The IBPS Clerk Pattern 2016-2017 consists of 2 phases online exams( Prelims exam and the Mains exam). IBPS Clerk Syllabus is comprises of English language, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, General Ability and Computer knowledge. The IBPS Prelims exam has three sections i.e, English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability.The exam has a total of 100 questions and each question carries 1 mark.
The IBPS Mains Exam has 5 sections. The two new sections of the Mains exam are General Awareness and Computer Knowledge. The Mains exam consists of 200 questions, each section containing 40 questions. Each section is allotted a separate time frame within which the questions need to be answered. Both these exams have negative marking. For every wrong answer, the candidate will lose 0.25 marks.

Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by IBPS depending upon requirements will be shortlisted for online main examination.

To Keep In Mind
- Penalty for Wrong Answers (Applicable to both – Preliminary and Main examination)
There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.
- The above tests except the Tests of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.
- IBPS reserves the right to modify the structure of the examination which will be intimated through its website.
— The corrected scores obtained by each of the candidates in different sessions (if held) will be normalized using equi-percentile method.
— Scores up to two decimal points shall be taken for the purpose of calculations

C). Reasoning – VERBAL and Non- Verbal Reasoning

D). General Awareness – This section covers Current Affairs with special reference to the banking Industry. Topics include Indian Economy, International Economy, UNO, Marketing, Awards & Honors, Sport, Finance,Agriculture etc. History of Banking, current affairs of last 6 months, countries / currencies, Books & Their Authors, Banking Terms, RBI, Fiscal Monetary Policies, banking functions etc.
E). Computer – This section has two subparts – Hardware and Software. Candidates are required to possess basic knowledge and computer operating skills.
